Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing (LA2M) Donates $500 to Delonis Center

The Monetary Donation Will Go Toward Helping Washtenaw Residents Who Are Currently Experiencing Homelessness

ANN ARBOR, Michigan — August 4, 2010 — Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing (LA2M) today donated $500 to the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County’s Delonis Center. The Delonis Center is a shelter in Ann Arbor, Michigan, that helps people who are currently experiencing homelessness.

“Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing is pleased to support the Delonis Center and its efforts to help those facing homelessness in Washtenaw County,” said Derek Mehraban, founder of Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing (LA2M) and CEO of Internet marketing agency Ingenex Digital Marketing. “LA2M is a volunteer organization with the goal of educating the community and empowering them to become leaders in Internet marketing and social media. We feel the Delonis Center is doing great things for the city of Ann Arbor. Hopefully this $500 will help them continue their mission.”

LA2M is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to teaching about all things marketing, including new media, digital marketing, social media, and web design. Covering a full range of new media, traditional sales and marketing topics; LA2M provides practical information to help businesses and non-profits grow. LA2M is open to the general public, client and agency side marketing professionals, and anyone with an interest in marketing. It provides a chance to exchange ideas and get to know other professionals during a relaxed lunch setting. There is no membership fee and advanced registration for LA2M is not required.

Last winter LA2M held a fundraiser to benefit the Delonis Center. The event asked members to come together for a holiday gathering, to raise money for the shelter’s mission of ‘ending homelessness one person at a time’. Today the funds from that event have been gathered and given to the shelter as a monetary gift.

“The Shelter Association would like to thank everyone at LA2M for their generous gift. With our primary revenue coming from individual donors, private foundations and grants; every gift helps us reach our goal of ‘ending homelessness one person at a time’. Again, we would like to express sincere thanks to LA2M for their gift and for helping making it possible for us to provide housing and support all year long,” said Diana Neering, Director of Development and Communications at the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County.

The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County is an Ann Arbor agency that provides overnight shelter and support services for men and women currently experiencing homelessness in the Washtenaw Area. It provides shelter for people with no place to live and no means to finance permanent housing. In addition, the shelter provides emergency shelter, referrals for substance abuse treatment, clothing vouchers, transportation, food, health care, housing assistance, and money management. All of the shelter’s current residents share two common characteristics. They have no place to live and they do not currently have the resources to secure housing.

The Delonis Center is a shelter staffed and run by the Shelter Association. It is located off of West Huron Street in Ann Arbor. At present the Delonis Center is home to the largest percentage of men and women without permanent housing in the Washtenaw Area. Open seven days a week the shelter allows residents to stay from 8 pm until 7:30 in the morning, at which time they are encouraged to go out and seek work. The shelter’s goal is not to provide permanent housing but instead to provide a supportive environment that helps people get back on their feet.

"The Delonis Center has long been a valuable asset to the Ann Arbor community. Rather than just providing shelter and "band aid" fixes, they work every day to change the lives of those in need. Take a moment to read through some of their success and it will become clear why they were a great fit for LA2M to donate to." said Ross Johnson, LA2M Volunteer and CEO of 3.7 Designs, an Ann Arbor Web Design Company.
